The Story Behind Wheels of Hope

The Inspiration

Picture
The story behind Wheels of Hope began with Ellen Lee, owner of Legacy Vans in Pearl, Mississippi. A 25-year rehabilitation nurse, Ellen took over the adaptive mobility van company after the passing of her husband, John Lee, and his partner Daryel Dunaway — pioneers in the adaptive mobility industry.

Writer/Director Tim Vogel was moved by Ellen's stories of courage, determination, and the everyday heroes who champion freedom of movement for those who need it most. Their dedication to helping people regain independence became the emotional foundation of the film.

The Film

Set during the holiday season, "Wheels of Hope" follows Sarah Williams, the fiery lead singer of traveling band "Sarah and the Silver Spurs," as they become stranded in the charming mountain town of Silver Pine, North Carolina, during a snowstorm.

There, Sarah meets Martha Wheeler, the proud owner of Wheeler's Auto — a family business and beloved community cornerstone specializing in adaptive mobility vehicles. When Richard Hayes, the ruthless CEO of Freedom Drive, threatens to take over the East Coast market and destroy Wheeler's Auto, Sarah and the townspeople must rally together to save not just a business, but the heart and soul of their community.
